Birkey, Pastor of Ashton Mennonite Church, Sarasota shares:
-
-
“It
has been helpful for me to think of worship as a wide open, lush pasture that
God has given us to romp and frolic in. That
pasture is a place of freedom to enjoy the many different expressions of worship
that are described in Psalms and in the rest of Scripture, from lying prostrate
in silence to joyful dance before the Lord.
-
However,
many congregations have chosen to camp out in one little corner of the pasture.
They become comfortable with certain expressions of worship and develop
an underlying suspicion of other forms of expression. My sense is that God is less concerned with how a
congregation expresses their worship, than He is with whether or not that
congregation is open to being stretched in their understanding and practice of
worship.
-
I
would encourage believers to enter freely into worship, and to be open to
allowing worshipful dance to enhance their offering of praise to God.”

-
- “I
believe worship dance gives hands and feet to our hearts, and reaches out to
touch the face of Jesus”
